Sherwood Rangers Regimental Dinner

Reconciliation

The Sherwood Ranger Tank Regiment fought through Africa and then came onto Gold Beach on D-Day with Sherman DD swimming tanks. Renowned for their courage and fighting skills, they rarely left the front lines until the end of the war, and were favored partners of British and American units alike. They fought with American 82nd Airborne paratroopers in the Netherlands during Operation Market Garden. In 1990, Karl Friedrich Koenig, who had faced them across the Mareth Line in Tunisia in March 1943 reached out to them. They wholeheartedly accepted him and invited him to join their Old Comrades Association. He was a valued member of their Regiment until his death, giving truth to their motto: Loyal Unto Death. Now that they are all gone, they are sorely missed.
